24/7 Recovery Center Brings New Hope To New York

09 May 2017 Written by  Gary Enos

The opening of a 24/7 recovery center in the New York City borough of Staten Island reflects the state's goal of offering individuals rapid connection to information and services.

The Next Step Resource and Recovery Center is being funded by a $1.75 million grant from the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS).

Recovery support services that are being offered at the center include peer coaching, wellness education and employment readiness. The same site also houses other services that include a pre-arraignment diversion program for arrestees and a peer-delivered emergency department intervention for individuals who have survived an opioid overdose.

“Through 24-hour walk-in access to information, crisis intervention, professional and peer counseling, referrals, and robust programming to support people in recovery, we are here to help people when they are ready to take that next step,” Diane Arneth, executive director of center operator Community Health Action of Staten Island, said in a news release last week.
