Mental Health Video Shares Hope

On Thursday afternoon, I had the privilege of sitting down with representatives of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and doing a live Facebook chat about advances in mental illness. It’s a subject that’s both professionally and personally important to me. My focus as a member of the health, science and environment team is the brain, and I have a particular interest in mental illness because I live with bipolar.

Over the past 30 years, I’ve seen a change in how mental illness is understood and treated. More importantly, I think we are on the cusp of great advancements in teasing out the biological origins of mental illness and finding more targeted therapies that don’t just rely on drugs.

Watch our conversation and please let us know what you think.
