What Does My Energy Say

10 March 2016 Written by

Wherever I go, I bring my energy with me.

It speaks. Louder than my words, it speaks. In an instant, others around me “catch” my vibes. Anger, fear, aggression, compassion, kindness, love, hurried, calm, serene, judgmental, anxious, nervous, determined, relaxed – these emotions emanate from my soul and cannot be hidden.

I can pretend to be something different than what I actually am, but it won’t work. My truth will always come through. I cannot hide from others – but I can hide from myself. I can live behind a wall of denial and cover myself with a shield. But others can see right through it.

It is my responsibility to take care of the energy I bring. I am affecting the world around me all the time. My energy enters into the universal space between me and others. What kind of energy will I bring? Will I be a positive influence?

It’s my business to tend to my soul so that I bring value to my life and to others by the energy that I bring into the shared space.

Raised on a dairy farm in upstate NY, I learned to work hard along with my five siblings. I grew up in a very conservative Mennonite-Amish church which shaped a lot of my fundamental core values and beliefs. After moving to Florida to attend college, I married and became mother to five children. Eventually, my unmanageable life came to a crashing halt and I found my way into an Al-Anon recovery program. Recovery has affected every area of my life and I love sharing the things I am learning with others so that they might also find hope for their own recovery.
